Serving 28 counties in Western Pennsylvania the Community Page
will feature highlights from each county as received.
Our feature for this edition is: ELK County and the Sandra Jo
Effort.
Two years ago, a group of caring individuals came together to
raise money to help build an accessible room for Zach, a child with
spina bifida.
The effort was a success and now, this same group of people are
at it again.
Sandra Jo Pennington is a twelve year old girl from Johnsonburg
who has cerebral palsy . Her condition requires on-going
full-time care due to the severity of her disability. She
cannot walk, speak, and must be tube fed.
The goal is to raise funds and, 1) build a room which can serve
as an accessible bedroom and place for therapy, 2) build an
accessible bathroom, and 3) build an attached garage - for days when
the weather is bad.
Project donations may be in the form of money, materials, labor
and expertise.
The Johnsonburg United Methodist Church will be acting as the
non-profit liaison for the Sandra Jo Effort. For more
information contact the SBAWP. If you would
like to contribute you can make your check payable to:
