Life Skills Instructor (7am-5pm) - Full-Time
Location: All locations (rotation schedule)
Qualifications: Preferred applicants will have experience in working with persons with disabilities and possess a bachelor's degree in education, special education, psychology, rehabilitative services, health care or related field.  Valid Drivers License and dependable transportation a must.
Experience: 0 - 1 years
Compensation: $24,900 - $29,000                                             Travel Required: Yes

Schedule: 7am-5pm.  Schedule is based on eight ten hour shifts and will include weekend shifts.

Summary: This position works as part of a team in supporting all SBAWP participants. Staff will provide guidance, education, training, and direct supports to allow the participants to maintain their physical and emotional health, live safely in the community, and develop the skills necessary for more independent living.  These staff members are vital to these programs and will possess working knowledge of, and will assist program participants in, healthcare, safety, wellness, life management, community integration, household management, vocational and educational needs.

Number of Positions: 2

 

Life Skills Instructor (1pm-11pm) - Full-Time
Location: Gatehouse
Education: Preferred applicants will have experience in working with persons with disabilities and possess a bachelor's degree in education, special education, psychology, rehabilitative services, health care or related field.  Valid Drivers License and dependable transportation a must.
Experience: 0 - 1 years
Compensation: $24,900 - $29,000                                             Travel Required: Yes

Schedule: 1pm-11pm.  Schedule is based on eight ten hour shifts per two week cycle and will include weekend shifts.

Summary:  This position works as part of a team in supporting all SBAWP participants. Staff will provide guidance, education, training, and direct supports to allow the participants to maintain their physical and emotional health, live safely in the community, and develop the skills necessary for more independent living.  These staff members are vital to these programs and will possess working knowledge of, and will assist program participants in, healthcare, safety, wellness, life management, community integration, household management, vocational and educational needs.

Life Skills Instructor (10:30pm-8:30am) - Full-Time
Location: Gatehouse
Qualifications: Preferred applicants will have experience in working with persons with disabilities and possess a bachelor's degree in education, special education, psychology, rehabilitative services, health care or related field.  Experience will be considered in absences of higher education.  Valid Drivers License and dependable transportation a must.
Experience: 0 - 1 years
Compensation: $18,720 - $20,800                                             Travel Required: No

Schedule: 10:30pm-8:30am / Wednesday through Saturday.

Summary: This position works as part of a team in supporting the Gatehouse residents. Staff will provide guidance, education, training, supervision, and direct supports to allow the residents to maintain their physical and emotional health, live safely in the community, and develop the skills necessary for more independent living. The overnight counselor has primary responsibility for maintaining a safe environment at night, performing assigned administrative and household duties, and for initiating the morning routines and consumer supports at the beginning of the day.

Life Skills Instructor – Part Time
Location: All Locations
Qualifications: Preferred applicants will have experience in working with persons with disabilities and possess a bachelor's degree in education, special education, psychology, rehabilitative services, health care or related field.  Valid Drivers License and dependable transportation a must.

Experience: 0 - 1 years
Compensation: $12-14 per hour. Travel Required: Yes

Schedule: Any Monday through Sunday.  Schedule is based programming and staffing needs.
Summary:  This position works as part of a team in supporting all SBAWP participants. Staff will provide guidance, education, training, and direct supports to allow the participants to maintain their physical and emotional health, live safely in the community, and develop the skills necessary for more independent living.  These staff members are vital to these programs and will possess working knowledge of, and will assist program participants in, healthcare, safety, wellness, life management, community integration, household management, vocational and educational needs.  In addition, this position may be required to work scheduled shifts during Spina Bifida Association Weekend Retreats and Camp Weeks.

Advanced Life Skills Instructor - Full-Time
Location: Gatehouse (primary location)
Qualifications: Preferred applicants will have experience in working with persons with disabilities and possess a bachelor's degree in education, special education, psychology, rehabilitative services, health care or related field.  Valid Drivers License and dependable transportation a must.

Experience: 1-2 years
Compensation: $29,000 - $33,200                                            Travel Required: Yes

Schedule: 7am-3pm or 9am-5pm (depending upon programming needs).  May include occasional evening and weekends.

Summary: This position will provide support and training to participants in the Adult Services Programs (Gatehouse and Community Support) through the development and implementation of Life Skills programming that meets SBAWP objectives.  In addition, this position provides essential support services to other programming areas (Health and Wellness, Academic, Vocational, and Community Integration). 

The qualified candidate will possess a working knowledge of, and will assist program participants in, healthcare, safety, wellness, life management, community integration, household management, vocational and educational needs.  Teaching background preferred.

Executive Secretary - Spina Bifida Association of Western PA

Job summary

Performs administrative duties for the Boards of Directors and the Executive Director.  Ensures the efficient operation of both organizations, including telephone and communication systems, computer network, office supplies, etc.  Ensures that the appropriate support staffing is available. Establishes and ensures professional atmosphere within the office environment, including the conduct and appearance of the staff.  Responsible for contract administration including tax filings, legal and regulatory reporting.

Summary of essential job functions

  1. Performs administrative secretarial duties as required for the Board of Directors.  This includes but is not limited to:  taking minutes and drafting copy for Board Secretary, coordinating the timely preparation and dissemination of agendas, minutes, reports and attachments to the Board and Executive Committee and staff as directed.  Schedules meetings as directed by the board.
  2. Establishes and maintains an organized system for the filing of confidential material and  records.
  3. Composes and edits letters and correspondence as directed.
  4. Prepares for and participates in annual audit process.
  5. Manages scheduling for the Executive Director.
  6. Ensures allocation of expenses and revenues to appropriate program account for general management budget.
  7. Maintains all insurance records, contractual agreements, government requirements and claims.  Processes all claims in a timely manner.  Maintains process for tracking time sensitive renewals and informs the Executive Director.
  8. Ensures the timely and appropriate reporting of all legal, regulatory, and tax documents.
  9. Ensures an adequate and efficient inventory of office supplies.  Coordinates with the support staff.
  10. Acts as a signature on all cash and deposit accounts. 
  11. Maintains monthly balance of accounts have responsibility for, ensuring that accounts meet current financial requirements and that the accounts balance and are reconciled.
  12. Assists the program managers/coordinators as requested
  13. Prepares and maintains contract and user agreements, issues invoices, monitors A/R for all users in a timely fashion.  Maintains current files for all user groups.
  14. Insures proper accounting and depositing of revenues received.
  15. Issues payment for invoices within approved budget as directed.
  16. Establishes policies and procedures for a professional office atmosphere that allows for the smooth and efficient operation of the organizations, including but not limited to:  answering phones, mail distribution, trips to bank, scheduling of staff.

Data Entry Clerk - Spina Bifida Association of Western PA

Job summary

The Data Entry Clerk enters information into the organization’s software and produces reports, as directed.

Summary of essential job functions

  1. Enters data into appropriate system.
  2. Assists with the preparation of monthly reports.

Retreat Staff/Counselors - Woodlands Foundation.
PT  temporary counselor staff needed for weekend residential retreat programs.  Responsible for the direct care, supervision, and mentoring of assigned camp participants. Interest and ability to work with children and adults with physical and cognitive disabilities is a must. Outgoing and energetic personality to assist with the overall social and recreation aspects of retreats.  Position requires CPR certification and child abuse/criminal background clearances.  This is a rewarding opportunity which will provide life-enriching and career-building experiences.
