The Mighty Penguins are excited to host a Sled Hockey Tournament for 3 divisions over Columbus Day weekend! Divisions: 1. Novice (8 minute periods, host can provide pushers if needed, novice goalies preferred, but goalies from a junior team can be used) 2. Junior (Up to 18 years of age) 3. Intermediate (18 years of age and older) The tournament will be held at the Pittsburgh Penguins Practice Facility—UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex (8000 Cranberry Springs Drive, Cranberry Township, PA 16066). On March 29, 2016, Fifth Third Bank presented the Spina Bifida Association of Western PA a check for the EITC program. Through the EITC (Educational Improvement Tax Credit) program, qualified businesses can make a donation to the Spina Bifida Assocation of Western PA (SBAWP) and receive tax credits equal to a percentage of their gift. The Spina Bifida Association of Western PA is an approved Educational Improvement Organization (EIO) in the EITC program. Gifts through the EIO program enable the SBAWP to provide essential programming to individuals with spina bifida and related disabilities throughout Western PA. On Tuesday March 22, 2016, the Gatehouse residents were treated to a visit to the new UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex to watch a VIP Training of the Pittsburgh Penguins by invitation from the Mighty Penguins, one of the Pittsburgh area’s hockey teams for disabled players. Eleven of the current Gatehouse residents were in attendance as well as two staff persons.
